8th Grade Social Studies
Using the textbook History Alive! The United States, the theme for this year will be to learn about the past and the influence it has on the present and our collective futures. We will learn about pre-colonialism to the early twentieth century while simultaneously paying attention to current events including the upcoming general election. Specific highlights include:
GOALS
To appreciate, understand, and enjoy social studies. Another larger, more important, goal is that students get engaged and involved by learning how they can stand up for what they believe. They are the future and it is appropriate that they know how to participate in our Democracy and how important it is that they do so. Some of our learning will be project based both in and out of the classroom.

- Civil War and Reconstruction
- Reform Movements of the mid to late Twentieth Century
